snatchlike

What goes wrong

Ripping it off the floor

It is fast to the knee and then nothing is left. The chest comes up first and the bar chases it.

Where in the lift: First pull

The cue

Same speed to the knee, then explode — the floor is setup, not the lift.

One cue, because one is all anyone can hold onto under a heavy snatch — and something to do rather than something to avoid, because under a heavy bar there is no time to turn a "don't" into an action.

The drills that fix it

Most useful first. The percentage is of your squat snatch, and it is a band, not a prescription.

Playing at half speed, so the turnover is visible.

Snatch deadlift

105–120% of your snatch

Slow, snatch grip, holding position the whole way. Builds the back that holds everything else together.

Hang snatch, below the knee

80–88% of your snatch

The awkward one. Teaches patience through the knee, which is where most bars start running away.

Snatch from blocks (knee height)

90–95% of your snatch

The second pull with the first one deleted. Heavy, honest, and it does not care how good your floor position is.

Paused snatch pull

85–100% of your snatch

Two seconds still just below the knee, then the full pull. The pause makes you own the position bars run away from.

Halting snatch deadlift

95–110% of your snatch

Pull to the top of the thigh, stop, hold it there, and come back down. It never finishes, and that is the whole idea.

What it usually sits behind

Which of those is yours is a question your numbers answer. Tell snatchlike your snatch and the lifts you already know — power snatch, overhead squat, back squat — and it names the one actually capping your squat snatch, then writes a session that fits the time you have. A lift you have not tested is left out rather than guessed. There is nothing to sign into.

What the camera checks for it

Back angle change to the knee. Allowed: up to 10° of back-angle change to the knee. How much your back angle changed from lift-off to the bar passing the knee, in degrees. Less is better.

That allowance is a conventional coaching margin — the room a coach would let go without saying anything — reasoned from practice, not measured here, and wide on purpose. Plenty of people sit outside it and are fine; a reading past it is the thing worth looking at next, not a diagnosis.

Anything about the bar is the path of the wrists. The detector sees hands, not a barbell, so it is close enough to coach from and not a tracked bar path.

Film it side-on, the whole lift in frame from the setup to standing it up. When the clip cannot support the measurement, the read lists it as not checked — what the back angle did off the floor — the shoulders or hips were not visible early enough — and says nothing about it rather than guess.

Film one

Film one snatch and snatchlike checks this, and the 8 other faults, for you. The pose model runs in this browser tab and the video stays on your device — it is never uploaded. The read can be saved as a video, with the path of your wrists drawn on it, to post back into the thread you were asking in.
