Pressing it out
You catch with soft elbows and grind them straight. In a competition that is a no-lift; in training it is a warning.
The cue
Punch into the lockout as the bar passes your head — arrive locked, do not lock on arrival.
One cue, because one is all anyone can hold onto under a heavy snatch — and something to do rather than something to avoid, because under a heavy bar there is no time to turn a "don't" into an action.
The drills that fix it
Most useful first. The percentage is of your squat snatch, and it is a band, not a prescription.
Snatch balance
Bar on the back, dip, drive, and ride it into the bottom. The fastest way to stop being frightened of the hole.
Drop snatch
Snatch balance with no dip and no drive. Just fall under it and lock. Speed, not load.
Sots press
Press it out from the bottom of a squat. Deeply unglamorous, extremely effective, do it with an empty bar first.
What it usually sits behind
- Your ceiling is overhead. The bar is not the problem — holding it is. The session for it → Read by the overhead squat to snatch ratio.
- You are slow under the bar. The pull is fine; the turnover is not. The session for it → Read by the power snatch to snatch ratio.
Which of those is yours is a question your numbers answer. Tell snatchlike your snatch and the lifts you already know — power snatch, overhead squat, back squat — and it names the one actually capping your squat snatch, then writes a session that fits the time you have. A lift you have not tested is left out rather than guessed. There is nothing to sign into.

What the camera checks for it
Elbow angle in the bottom of the catch. Allowed: 165° or straighter in the bottom of the catch. Your elbow angle in the bottom of the catch, in degrees. Straighter is better.
That allowance is a conventional coaching margin — the room a coach would let go without saying anything — reasoned from practice, not measured here, and wide on purpose. Plenty of people sit outside it and are fine; a reading past it is the thing worth looking at next, not a diagnosis.
Anything about the bar is the path of the wrists. The detector sees hands, not a barbell, so it is close enough to coach from and not a tracked bar path.
Film it side-on, the whole lift in frame from the setup to standing it up. When the clip cannot support the measurement, the read lists it as not checked — whether it was pressed out — the elbows were not visible in the catch — and says nothing about it rather than guess.
Film one
Film one snatch and snatchlike checks this, and the 8 other faults, for you. The pose model runs in this browser tab and the video stays on your device — it is never uploaded. The read can be saved as a video, with the path of your wrists drawn on it, to post back into the thread you were asking in.
